Expert All-Natural & Green Pest Control in Hampton Roads
Green pest control means treating your home with plant-derived botanical actives — rosemary, peppermint, thyme, wintergreen and similar oils — placed as targeted perimeter bands and crack-and-crevice applications instead of broad synthetic sprays. It is a different product class, not a lighter version of the same visit: the same inspection, the same entry points, the same technician.
At Universal Pest & Termite the green line is part of standard quarterly pricing. There is no upgrade fee for asking for it, and you do not have to decide before you book — tell your technician at the appointment and they will build the treatment around it.
The question comes up constantly across Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake — households with a fenced yard, a dog that patrols the drip line, or kids who play in the mulch beds want to know what is going down around the foundation before anyone applies it. The botanical line is our answer for those homes, and your technician can walk you through the label for anything being used at your house.
How Our Green Service Works
The botanical line is a different product class with a different trade-off, and the visit is built around that difference rather than around the spray alone.
Plant-derived active ingredients
Instead of the synthetic residuals used in conventional service, these products are built on botanical oils — rosemary, peppermint, thyme, wintergreen and similar. Every product we apply is used at the rates and in the places its label allows, and your technician can show you that label at your home.
Shorter residual, more visits
Plant oils break down faster in sunlight, heat and rain than conventional residuals. Green service is therefore built around scheduled quarterly visits and unlimited free returns in between rather than around one long-lasting barrier.
Exclusion does the heavy lifting
Because the chemistry is short-lived, the physical work matters more: sealing gaps at pipe penetrations and door sweeps, clearing harborage against the foundation, and correcting the crawl space moisture that draws pests in to begin with.
Green does not cover everything
We do not use the botanical line on subterranean termites, an active bed bug infestation, or an entrenched German roach population. Termites are treated with a registered liquid termiticide or an in-ground bait system; bed bugs and heavy roach populations take conventional products and follow-up visits. We will tell you plainly when green is the wrong tool rather than sell you a treatment that will not hold.
Pests We Treat With the Green Line
The botanical products cover the common household invaders most Hampton Roads homes call about:
Ants
Odorous house ants, pavement ants and the sugar-seeking trails that show up on kitchen counters each spring.
Cockroaches
American roaches — the palmetto bugs that come up out of crawl spaces and sewer lines — plus Oriental and wood roaches.
Spiders
Wolf spiders, common house spiders and cellar spiders, with web knock-down and treatment of the eaves and foundation line.
Mice & Rats
Handled mechanically wherever possible: snap trapping, exclusion of quarter-inch gaps, and the natural repellent applied around the foundation on every regular visit.
Occasional Invaders
Centipedes, millipedes, earwigs, silverfish and pillbugs — the damp-loving crawlers that migrate indoors after a wet stretch.

Our Proven 3-Step Process
Inspect & Identify
We walk the perimeter, the crawl space access and the interior hot spots to find where pests are actually getting in — botanical products reward accuracy, so the inspection is what makes them work.
Treat With the Green Line
Botanical perimeter bands, crack-and-crevice placements, and mechanical trapping for rodents, concentrated where the pressure is instead of sprayed across the whole yard.
Return Between Visits
Plant oils break down faster in sun and rain than conventional residuals, so the plan is built around quarterly service plus free return visits whenever something shows up in between.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there really no extra charge for all-natural pest control?
Correct — the green product line is part of our standard quarterly service pricing rather than a paid add-on, so the plan costs the same whether your technician treats with conventional or botanical products. Green product lines commonly carry an upcharge elsewhere in the industry, which is why the question comes up. Just tell us at the appointment, or note it when you request a quote, and we will build the visit around the botanical line.

Get My Free QuoteDoes green pest control actually work as well as conventional products?
For the common household pests — ants, spiders, occasional invaders, and general perimeter maintenance — botanical treatments handle the job well when they are placed accurately and backed by regular visits. The honest trade-off is longevity: plant oils break down faster in sun and rain than conventional residuals, so results depend more on scheduled quarterly service, free return visits between them, and sealing the entry points than on the spray itself. For an established bed bug infestation or a heavy German roach population we will recommend conventional products instead, and termites are their own job entirely.

Schedule My InspectionAre green treatments safe around my kids and pets?
Every product we use — botanical or conventional — is applied by a licensed technician at the rates and in the locations its label allows, and your technician can show you the label for anything going down at your home. In practice that means material is placed along the foundation, in cracks and crevices, and in the specific areas where pests are active rather than broadcast across your yard or living space, and we ask that people and pets stay off treated surfaces until they are dry. If anyone in the household has an allergy or a respiratory condition, tell your technician before the visit so placement and timing can be adjusted.

Kids, pets, allergies — mention it when you book and we plan the visit around it.
Request ServiceAre there long-term contracts for the green quarterly plan?
No. The membership subscription runs quarter to quarter and you can cancel at any time without a termination fee, which is the same arrangement as our conventional plans. Annual agreements of twelve to twenty-four months are common in this industry, so it is worth asking any company you are comparing us against what their cancellation terms look like before you sign.

No Long-Term Lock-In
Quarterly protection you can cancel anytime — see what each plan includes.
Compare PlansCan you treat termites with all-natural products?
No — we do not offer a botanical option for termites. Subterranean termites in Hampton Roads work below grade, and we treat them either with a registered liquid termiticide applied to the soil around the structure or with an in-ground bait system. If you would rather keep the amount of product in the soil to a minimum on a termite job, ask us about the bait system: the active ingredient sits in sealed in-ground stations instead of a treated soil line around the whole house.

Termite Treatment OptionsHow do I ask for green products on a service I already have booked?
Call the office or tell the technician when they arrive — it does not require rescheduling or a new agreement, and it does not change what you pay. Existing membership customers can switch at any regular quarterly visit and switch back just as easily if a particular pest problem calls for a conventional product that quarter.

The Universal Guarantee
Green service carries the same guarantee as our conventional plans: if pests covered by your plan turn up between scheduled quarterly visits, we come back and re-treat at no additional charge. Termites, bed bugs and wood-destroying insects are quoted, treated and warrantied separately.

Membership features describe our subscription plans as offered at the time of publication and may vary by home, plan tier, and the pests being treated; your written quote and service agreement govern what is included. The “Most exterminators” column describes common industry practice in general terms and is not a statement about any particular company — some providers may offer similar terms, so ask yours what their plan, warranty, fees, and cancellation terms include before you sign.
